Upcoming Fundraiser’s For Karen Felthauser

Posted in Adminisphere, Uncategorized at 11:21 am by wcnews

There are three opportunities coming up in the next month to help out Karen Felthauser’s campaign. First is for Cinco De Mayo Enchiladas for two. You get a whole bunch of food for $20 and it goes to help out her campaign.

Next if you have those things from spring cleaning that you haven’t been able to get rid of yet “Bring Them On” for the “Trash to Treasure” Yard Sale to benefit Karen’s campaign.

And Last, but by no means least, it’s a Memorial Day Brisket Party.

Click on “Read the rest of his entry” to see all the details.

Our plain ol’ Friday, May 5th also celebrates Cinco de Mayo, a day commemorating defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is good to be reminded that, although Mexico declared its independence from Spain in 1810, it took until 1821 to fully drive out the Spaniards. But then along came the French, who at the time were also enemies of the U.S. and eager to use the country south of our border as a means to support the South in winning the American Civil War. It is good to be reminded that a force considered superior in arms, training, and numbers can be resoundly whalloped by decent people who are dedicated to their freedom. To be sure, the French sent in more troops, so the struggle continued after Cinco de Mayo…yet, in the end they did lose out and to this day Cinco de Mayo is a very big holiday in Mexico. In the meantime, we encourage you to go to the city of San Marcos’ award-winning website http://www.vivacincodemayo.org or Google on your own to learn more about this important event.
To honor Cinco de Mayo our culinary artists Jessico Stempko and Joyce White will be offering a Mexican Enchilada Dinner for two, delivered, @ $20.00:
Six Enchiladas with Frijoles Boraccho (Vegetarian Drunken Beans) & Spanish Rice;
offering the following choices:
Beef
Chicken (choice of sauces: ranchero or verde)
Cheese
Suiza (spinach with sour-cream tomatillo sauce)
Also serving:
Flan, $3/serving
Even-Betther-Than-Chuy’s Jalapeno Dip $3/half-pint
To order please E-mail (we don’t want to wake baby Clint) Melissa at melissa_irion@yahoo.com

Saturday May 20, the Apple Corps will be holding a Trash-To-Treasure Yard Sale with proceeds benefitting Karen’s Campaign.
Let’s raise some money to help pay for yard signs for her run for State Representative, House District 52!
You will find all kinds of items available and plenty to choose from. Bring household items you don’t need any more and find something you do need!
Join us at 1102 St. Williams Avenue, Round Rock, TX (78681, for those using MapQuest).
Directions: Heading south on IH-35, take the FM 620 & McNeil exit in Round Rock. Continue south on the frontage road past 620 to the next light, turn right onto McNeil Road, which runs along the north side of the railroad tracks. You’ll be heading west. Turn right on St. Williams Avenue through the limestone entry marked Round Rock West. The
residence yard will be less than a block up ahead, on your left. (Just beyond it is a fire hydrant.)

Memorial Day Weekend Brisket Party in Brightwater Park
Friday, May 26th, 5PM
Y’know how you can’t beat barbecue brisket any time, and then there’s the Paul Stempko kind that is absolutely to die for…with every bite a bit of beefy melt-in-your-mouth heaven. So come one, come all to Karen’s Fundraiser, sit yourself down in a lovely park setting, and gorge yourselves on a brisket dinner including a vast variety of home-made sides and desserts, all as delicious as you’ve come to associate with Karen and her Apple Corps! We’ll provide plain and sweet tea but if you want to byob (with your own mixers) it’s permissible. Adults $15, Children 12 and under $Free!
You can reach the park by driving west on FM 620 from Round Rock, passing the hospital complex; turn right onto Wyoming Springs (there’s a Walgreen’s on that corner) and follow this road all the way until it bends toward the west and becomes Brightwater; at the second stop sign, Sea Ash Circle will be on your right but the park itself will be on the left.
You’ll see us be ready to go by 5 that evening and you can stay as long as you like while you fortify yourselves for El Amistad Fiesta in downtown Round Rock the remainder of the weekend.
To RSVP please E-mail (we don’t want to wake baby Clint) Melissa Irion to let her know you plan on being there. (We want to have enough Brisket for all.)
