Constable Griffin’s Fight With County Comes To An End
Citing the fact that the mental health unit was not part of the “core duties” of the Constable, as set out by the legislature and the Texas Constitution, the Appeals Court ruled in the counties favor. Full opinion here. This will just add more fuel to Griffin’s many opponents inside the WCGOP. From the beginning of this fight it’s never been about right and wrong. It’s been a vendetta by some in the county’s government against Gary Griffin. What really caused this all we may never know, and it probably won’t end until one or all of the players are gone from county office.
Here’s the AAS article, Appeals court sides with Williamson County in constable’s suit.

Wasn’t the lawsuit about gutting Griffin’s budget after it had already been approved by the Royal Court?
Will agree with EOW. It has been about a vendetta.

I remember correctly, and could be wrong,it was about stripping the mental health unit money out of his budget and giving it to the sheriff.

I thought they took more then just “mental health” money and deputies. Either way, people who stand up for what is right, struggle to find justice in a corrupt county. This will change.

Okay, after watching the news last night , and by the way, why was Birkman standing with Duty during the interview? Anyway, I figured out what I was trying to say earlier. Putting aside the “mental health” issue, if the County can come in and gut a contables budget after it has passed, what’s going to stop them from doing this to other agencies? Example; someone decides they want to put a warrant division with the Sheriff’s dept. They could go in and gut Pct2,Pct3 and Pct4s’ staff and money because they got away with it with Pct1. That is what I thought the lawsuit was about. To keep the power in check, so to speak.
