It was easy to understand why the WCDP hasn’t been able to win an election in these many, many years; perhaps the influx of all this new spirit and energy will help the organization to become competent and truly democratic. There was a tremendous feeling –and some pretty convincing evidence–that the party regulars who favor Clinton acted more in a partisan manner than a professional one, using their power in the process to try to advantage their candidate. Certainly, there was little sense of “welcome” for all the newcomers to this process.

The great thing was the way the delegates and alternates acted in patience and grace–for the most part, despite the pretty obvious attempts to move them down the road.

Great Democrats like these deserve to be better served than they were, in far too many instances of partisan pettiness.

BTW: Brian Hamond pretty much saved the event from becoming a total disaster. Thank God he’s on or side or the Republicans would surely have reason for all their crowing!

But we are lucky this year to have most of the stars aligned in our favor and, regardless of the prickliness of a few, Democrats are going to win big this year and we have the potential to build a really strong, and democratic, Democartic Party in Williamson County.

Terrible of me to omit mention of all the volunteers who worked with such dedication, calm, and good spirit for the weeks preparing for the event and the long (very long) day of the convention! They were incredible!

There was bound to be some confusion and tempers with the amount of “new spirit and energy” as you call it. Thanks to all those who volunteered and especially to Mr. Hamon for all his savvy and hard work.

Any more impressions, tales, etc..?? Come on folks!!
