Home Owners of Texas (HOT) Rally for TRCC Accountability

Posted in Hutto, Jarrell, Taylor, Williamson County at 11:09 pm by wcnews

Last week EOW posted, Builder protection agency “hits home” in Williamson County, about some Williamson County citizens that are having trouble getting redress from the Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC).  The TRCC is essentially an agency set up by Texas GOP, as pay back to one of their super rich donors “Swift Boat” Bob Perry, after they took control of Texas government in 2003.

Well it’s not just the homeowners from Jarrell and Taylor that are having trouble there a some in Hutto as well.  And they’re having a rally:

When: Monday, September 22nd, 2008, at 11am.
Where: Texas State Capitol, 1100 Congress Avenue, Austin, TX (on the south steps).

Dueling press releases, first from the group Home Owners of Texa (HOT).

Homeowners of Hutto are gathering to make their voices heard at a PRESS CONFERENCE on the South Steps of the State Capitol! This is your chance to show your support in an effort to abolish the TRCC before the Sunset Commission Hearing set for the following day. All homeowners that have been affected by poor construction and unscrupulous builders are encouraged to attend!

Democratic candidate for HD-52 Diana Maldonado will be in attendance as well, assisting citizens in Hutto that have been left out in the cold by the TRCC.  From Maldonado’s press release:

Members of the Home Owners of Texas (HOT), Mrs. Sandee Bradshaw of Hutto Texas, and Diana Maldonado, candidate for HD52; will hold a press conference on the South Steps of the Texas Capitol. Homeowners across Central Texas have fallen prey to unscrupulous builders like Lennar Homes. The Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC) is the state agency tasked with protecting homeowners. Unfortunately, the TRCC and it’s federal counterpart, HUD, have made redressing shoddy building impossible for these homeowners. Mrs. Sandee Bradshaw’s experience with the TRCC and HUD typifies that of her fellow Lennar homeowners in Hutto, Texas.

You can see Sandee Bradshaw talk about this problem in a video linked in this earlier EOW post, Williamson County Politics Highlighted In Upcoming Documentary. This is a serious problem and the TRCC, aka the builder protection agency, has been a disaster and must be abolished so that home builders can be held accountable again when they produce a low quality product. Come and join the rally on Monday if you can.
