AAS Article On 6-Hour Ballot Count For Runoff
Williamson County’s few runoff ballots took six hours to count:
It took Williamson County elections officials more than six hours to count ballots in a runoff election with less than 3 percent voter turnout.
County Elections Administra- tor Cliff Borofsky said the delay in Tuesday night’s ballot counting was because of an elections clerk’s error and computer failures.
“One of the people doing the scanning made an error,” Borofsky said Wednesday. “But we didn’t see that error until about 9:30 (p.m.), when we thought we were done and had all the totals. The numbers didn’t match.”

Borofsky has overseen four elections in Williamson County since taking the position of election administrator in August. He came to the county from a similar position in Bexar County.
Borofsky came under fire in Bexar for late election returns, including a 30-hour delay for results in the November 2002 general election.

[...] I know Borofsky had left Bexar County after some election problems and there were some problems here during the runoff. I don’t know if that or the recent problems with ES&S had anything to do with it. The interesting thing is the officials quoted from the county don’t seem to surprised or concerned. [...]
