Rep. John Carter’s Votes Against Funding The Troops
Shocking headline, while true, it’s not reality so much. I wish it could be said that he only did it because he knows the President will veto the bill. But from the post below it’s more than apparent that Mr. Carter is a far-right lemming. From this WacoTrib story, Congress passes war funding bill with controversial timetable, we see that Mr. Carter still doesn’t get it.
Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, whose district includes Bell County and Fort Hood, said the bill would undermine commanders in the field and lead to failure in Iraq.
“We are sending the message to the terrorists that we are not focused, resolved and determined to win, but instead distracted by silly political games,†he said in a statement. “We are telling them that we give up and they have won this battle. All they have to do is wait until August 2008.â€
From the looks of it they’re not waiting. And most informed people know that we’re not fighting “terrorists” in Iraq it’s a civil war. You can go here, Two stories you won’t hear much about on CNN or Fox, to see that we still haven’t gotten the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 and what our leaving could do to foster compromise in Iraq.

As well you know, OBL, Iran, the Taliban, Hezbola, and the other various terrorist groups around the world cheered the Democrat surrender bill that scrapped through the house.
Trying to dress up this pig of bill as “supporting the troops” is utter hogwash.
The Democrat bill is nothing less than surrender. If the Democrat party had half a sack they’d be honest and just vote to cut off funding for the war on terror and pull the miltary back to the CONUS.
Sadly, the Democrats can’t be honest with themselves or the America people about what they want, so they resort to silly lies lke “Carter votes against funding the troops”.

Jim, is that all your going to do here is post “wing-nut” talking points in your comments? And trying to state as fact things that you believe to be true, are things that I “well know”, well that is what’s “silly”.
If you want to have an intelligent conversation I’m more than willing. I’ll agree it is far form perfect and I would like to see the Democrats bring them all out now. But, it’s better than anything the GOP came up with when it controlled Congress and, hopefully – I’m not holding my breath though – might make Bush do something to start getting us the hell out of there. You do know we have to leave Iraq some day right?

I can respect a Democrat who never supported the invasion of Iraq and wants an immediate pullout, regardless of the consequences.
I have no respect for the majority of the Democrats who voted for the war when it was in their short term interests, wanted a surge until the President proposed a surge, and now want a pullout, but not of everyone, just enough withdrawal to ensure we lose.
I especially hate Murtha, who has stated in public that the purpose of this half assed, pork laddened piece of cheap political theater is designed not to support the troops, but to “slow bleed” them. Murtha voted for the war, and then switched sides almost immediately.
Look at any of the videos that the various terror groups send out on a regular basis. They quote these Democrat talking points almost verbatum. The Iranians and Al Quaeda are counting on the Democrats to deliver the victory they can’t pull off on their own. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t see that.
I wish very much that Williamson county had a true two party system. I agree with you on a lot of local issues.
There’s plenty not to like about Judge Carter. I hate the way he kowtows to hollywood. I can understand why the Democrats line up behind the RIAA and the big hollywood mogols. Most of them are pretty much on the hollywood payroll. Why Congressmen like Carter do it is beyond me.
But when you spout these dishonest talking points then I’m going to call you on them.

Look Jim, the first line of my post was pointing out that while he did vote against funding the troops – I mean he did vote against this bill, while it includes things that aren’t war funding, the vast majority of it is – but in reality his vote doesn’t mean anything because the main reason he and most Republicans did it was because they believe it won’t stand, the President will veto the bill. Get it? Shocking right?
I can see your point about Murtha and the D’s that did vote against it. I think most of them were chickenshit and thought that well it’s only Saddam and he’s a piece of crap anyway so what does it matter. Be it Murtha, Hillary, you President or Carter none of them listened to the people that said this war was going to turn into what it has. Feingold knew, and remember almost half the D’s in the Senate and more than half the D’s in the House at that time voted against it.
Talking points aside, It’s time to go.
