My Congressman Is A Joke, Volume 497

Posted in District 31, Had Enough Yet?, Central Texas, Commentary, Williamson County at 10:28 am by wcnews

It’s been a long time since anythings been posted on Simple Johnny’s blog, so I knew I was in for a treat. Whoever writes his stuff has a vivid imagination, a short memory, and doesn’t do research, Gathering Intelligence to Save Lives; Not Promote Politics.

One of the greatest protections our government can afford in an increasingly dangerous world is the ability to gather intelligence and use that knowledge to protect Americans from harm. Would any of us argue that it is not a dangerous world? The threat of terrorism is alive and real. (Scared? Good!)

Sadly there are many in Congress who do not agree with our Central Texas commonsense (Does he have a mouse in his pocket?). Recently, the House of Representatives discussed national security and the priority of intelligence-gathering as laid forth in the 2008 Intelligence Authorization bill. But you may be interested to know that this bill, crafted by Democrats, is bringing a new and more “relaxed” attitude to the intelligence community. An example: this bill requires the Director of National Intelligence to submit a report that discusses the effects of global warming and climate change. Does this sound like an intelligence function to you?

What this means in layman terms is that our finite intelligence-gathering resources – satellites, man hours, and taxpayer dollars – will be used to measure melting glaciers in summer time, instead of the threats being hurled at America by Osama bin Laden and his band of thugs.

A couple of things here. Let me see…seems to me I heard something from bunch of retired generals that said something to the effect of, “Climate Change Threatens U.S. National Security“. It may have even been eleven retired three-star and four-star admirals and generals that said it. Come to think of it they may have even done a whole report on it called National Security and the Threat of Climate Change. Nah, couldn’t be. Rep. John Carter wouldn’t put out a idiotic statement like the one above if something like that had happened.

Now to Osama Bin Laden and his band of thugs. Is Mr. Carter referring to this Osama bin Laden? The one that President Bush allowed to get away? The one that President Bush says this about, “And, again, I don’t know where he [bin Laden] is. I — I’ll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.”? The one that we know where he is because “our finite intelligence-gathering resources – satellites, man hours, and taxpayer dollars” tracked him down and our “war President” isn’t concerned about? That Osama bin Laden Mr. Carter, or another one?

How much longer will the voters of Congressional District 31 put up with the scare-tactics, ignorance and obfuscation of Rep. John Carter?

Rep. Carter also voted against a bill that would penalize oil companies for price gouging.
