Democratic Candidates on the Ballot in Williamson County for 2008

Posted in Good Stuff, HD-20, HD-52, Election 2008, District 31, 2008 Primary, Williamson County at 10:16 am by wcnews

Here’s the list of Democrats running in Williamson County in 2008.

Congress, District 31 - Brian Ruiz

Texas House, District 20 - Leonard Surratt

Texas House, District 52 - Diana Maldonado

County Commissioner, Precinct 1 - Mike Grimes

County Commissioner, Precinct 3 - Gregory Windham

County Judge Attorney - Jaime Lynn

Come see them tomorrow evening at the Brushy Creek Community Center.

AAS has a story on the filings here. They have an incorrect line here:

Williamson County Commissioner Lisa Birkman, a Republican, will face the winner of the Democratic primary between Mike Grimes and Steve Laukfuf. Another incumbent Republican, Commissioner Valerie Covey, will face Democrat Gregory S. Windham.

Nope. It’s the other way around. Democrat Mike Grimes will face the winner of the GOP primary between Birkman and Laukhuf.

KLBJ-AM has a story up as well, and they have Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey running unopposed. Democrat Gregory Windham is running against her in Precinct 3.

[UPDATE]: As a genvc pointed out in the comments the AAS also got their information about the two Democratic Texas House candidates wrong.

Diana Maldonado, 44, a Round Rock school trustee, will face Leonard Surratt, 51, a field service technician from Georgetown, in the Democratic primary.

Jim Dillion, 51, a self-described freedom fighter from Liberty Hill, filed as a Democrat against Rep. Dan Gattis, R-Georgetown.

Who’s writing this thing? Another drawback to media consolidation. Not sure who Jim Dillion is, but he didn’t file as a Democrat last EOW had heard. Maybe a Libertarian or an Independent.

[UPDATE]: EOW stands corrected Jim Dillon has filed as a Democrat in HD-20.

Full list of Democrats that filed in Texas can be found here.

[UPDATE]: Received email from County Attorney candidate and his name is Jaime, not Jamie, Lynn.

According to the Statesman, Leonard Surratt is running against Diana in the primary. I do not believe this is correct given that he filed to run against Gattis in December.
