Duty will challenge Bradley in GOP Primary

Today the long-rumored GOP Primary race for District Attorney in Williamson County was made official. Current Williamson County Attorney Jana Duty announced that she will try and unseat incumbent DA John Bradley. In her press release she stated that there is a “..cloud hanging over the District Attorney’s office,” and that “..Bradley represents all that is wrong with our criminal justice system today”.

While all of that is true the question remains, do Republicans in Williamson County care about those things? It’s really hard to beat an incumbent, especially one as entrenched as John Bradley. But there is an anti-incumbent mood taking hold. Of course, when the primary takes place, and what other races will be on the ballot along with this race is still up in the air. This is likely to a bruising battle no matter how long is lasts. Will the winner be electable once the primary is over? Whoever wins will have to take on Democrat Ken Crain in November 2012.

There are many problems with the criminal justice system in Williamson County. More then just the wrongful conviction and unreasonably long time, (because of Bradley), Michael Morton spent behind bars for a crime he did not commit. It’s is definitely time for a change in leadership at the District Attorney’s office in Williamson County.
