Help Congressman John Carter

Posted in Commentary, District 31, Election 2008, Williamson County at 1:20 pm by wcnews

From this recent AAS article, Congress to spend a little more time at home, about how “hard” Congress is having to work now that the Democrats have taken over, as opposed to when Republicans were running the show:

The House plans to be in session 105 days this year, compared with 152 days last year, said Katie Grant, a spokeswoman for House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

[…]

When Republicans controlled the House in 2006, Grant said, there were 87 voting days.

I guess when all the GOP House was doing was rubber-stamping Bush policies there was no need to be there very much. Here’s what Rep. John Carter was quoted saying in the article:

U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, has grown children, but they also live in his district.

His son is the head baseball coach and an assistant football coach at Round Rock High School, and the congressman has not made it to as many games as he would like in recent months.

There’s a simple way to make sure that Carter stays in the district year round and can see all the games his son coaches - vote for Brian Ruiz in November. Carter goes on to say:

“When I’m back in the district, I’m still working an eight- to 10-hour day,” Carter said. “But at least when I do have time off, I have time with my family and my family’s issues, rather than up here, when I just watch Fox and go to bed.”

That explains a lot.

I just spent an hour on the phone listening to a round table about the fuel problem, hosted by john carter. It was interesting and I think its great that he reaches out to the public, cinsidering in my almost 50 years on this planet its the first for me. Everyone can blame this party or that but you are wasting your time, its government in general that has things so screwed up, both and all parties. as long as their are lobbiest and special interest groups buying on elected officials nothing will be done for the best interest of the people or the will of the people. for instance recent polls show 97% of the people are not happy with the fact that the illegal immigration laws are not being inforced and yet they (government) are pretending we dont feel that way. if mr carter truely cares as he portrays and has not let the lobbiest buy him I say Kuddo’s to him
