Debra Stacy is officially out as the Election Administrator and John Willingham is back, temporarily. You have until January 31, 2007 to submit your application. It seems she lacked the leadership needed for the job. She was making $71,000 a year.

Former Elections Administrator Debra Stacy’s lack of leadership contributed to problems in Williamson County on Election Day, Democratic Party Chairman Richard Torres said during the county’s Elections Commission meeting Wednesday.

Representatives from both parties pointed to a lack of training of elections judges, causing some to quit in frustration before Election Day.

“We observed that training was poor,” said Torres, a commission member. “We also had problems with people resigning” because of low morale and inadequate training.

Only the lone Democrat on the five member commission was quoted in the article. Here’s who comprises the Election Commission in Williamson County

The Elections Commission is comprised of County Judge John Doerfler, County Clerk Nancy Rister, Tax Assessor/Collector Deborah Hunt, Republican Party Chair Bill Fairbrother and Democratic Party Chair Richard Torres.

Let’s hope they can do a better job this time.
