Williamson County Democrats pass resolution condemning Arizona immigration law
The Williamson County Democratic Party Executive Committee passed a resolution last week condemning the recently passed Arizona immigration law (SB 1070). Stating that the Democratic Party, “..believes in the dignity of all, regardless of immigration status, and recognizes the importance of everyone’s contributions to the social, religious, cultural and economic life the United States”.

Party Approves Expansion Plans
Round Rock, Texas - At the urging of new County Chairman Gregory S. Windham, the Williamson County Democrats Executive Committee approved unanimously a resolution condemning the controversial Arizona Anti0Immigration law in Round Rock on Thursday night.
RESOLUTION CONDEMNING ARIZONA LAW SB 1070
INVOLVING RACIAL PROFILING OF LATINO POPULATION
WHEREAS, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law Senate Bill 1070, which is an extremely controversial and stringent anti-immigrant bill.
WHEREAS, the Democratic Party affirms the Constitutional responsibility to regulate immigration and the need for immigration reform at the Federal level.
WHEREAS, Arizona is fully aware that several provisions of SB 1070 are unconstitutional and that its provisions constitute racial profiling of Latinos.
WHEREAS, SB 1070 is receiving unified and harsh criticism from political, religious, business, and civic leaders throughout the country for its unconstitutional provisions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY THAT IT HEREBY registers its strong disapproval of and disagreement with Arizona’s new anti-immigrant law SB 1070.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY strongly condemns the codification of the racial profiling the Arizona law SB 1070 creates. Our party believes in the dignity of all, regardless of immigration status, and recognizes the importance of everyone’s contributions to the social, religious, cultural and economic life the United States.
THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY FURTHER URGES Williamson County institutions to review and study any connections they might have to the State of Arizona or to companies domiciled in Arizona and consider other actions they might deem appropriate. The Party further urges Williamson County citizens to boycott 2010 travel plans to Arizona in protest to the passage of this law.

The party also approved an expansion office to be located on the County Square in Georgetown.
